Art discovery sucks. Let’s fix it.

The Concept

ArtGuessr is a fun, interactive app inspired by GeoGuessr, where players are challenged to guess key details of random pieces of on-chain art. Points are awarded for accuracy, with players competing against each other to climb the global leaderboard and prove their on-chain art knowledge.

Functionality

GAMEPLAY: A standard game of ArtGuessr is 5 rounds. In each round, ArtGuessr will display a single, randomly selected NFT. Players have 30 seconds to review the art and guess the Mint Date, Price, Artist Name, and Art Title.

SCORING: At the end of each round, the real data from the art is displayed and the player earns points based on the accuracy of their guesses. At the end of the game, the total is tallied and the player can see a summary of their game results.

LEADERBOARD: A global leaderboard tracks the leaders in number of games played, points per game, and total points. Leaderboards are tracked Daily, Weekly, and All-Time.

FOR ARTISTS: Talk to an artist. If we’re not shilling in DMs, or begging for RTs we’re filling out complicated applications hoping to to have our art “selected” in glorified popularity contests. Getting eyes on our art for even 60 seconds and having players engage with it’s on-chain story? Sign us up!

FOR COLLECTORS: Explore art in your underwear while competing for internet points? This is what Web3 was made for! Maybe while you play, you’ll recognize a piece you didn’t even realize was for sale! Maybe you’ll find out the actual price was ALOT less than you guessed. Boom! Bargain.

FOR COLLECTIONS: 6529 Memes, ClickCreate, Nobel Cards, Notable Pepes, Seize the Meebs, Fake Rares, The Sundays…if you’ve got a collection of unique art, why not make a custom game with your contract address complete with your own leaderboard to engage your community?

FOR TRANSIENT LABS: Did someone say on-chain transactions? How about connecting into existing marketplaces with referral codes for primary or secondary sales? What about a proxy contract that allows purchasing directly though ArtGuessr with the purchase transferred to the users wallet? New launch on Stacks? Getting Based? Trying to get in Shape? Include a custom game for “Now Minting” with fresh new artwork minting now across multiple chains and platforms?

FOR THE COMMUNITY: In GeoGuessr, it seems impossible that anyone could identify exactly where they are in the world by a random street view image. But today after 11 years there are players who can identify an exact location on earth within meters without even moving the camera. It’s conceivable that players who use ArtGuessr could become experts and identifying details of on-chain art, remembering names, recognizing artists, and noticing subtle nuances between chains, platforms and mint dates. This level of education across the on-chain art world would be incredible for this community and art world as a whole.

Engagement

SOCIAL SHARING: Share the result of each game with your score graphic showing each piece of art. Even share your profile with statistics on games played, accuracy, points per game etc. Players who add their social handles and minting address will have their social accounts automatically tagged when their art is another players round.

CUSTOM GAMES: Want to curate a custom game of ArtGuessr? Include art from a specific project, a specific chain, genre, country, or even date range. Or even just curate your favorite art across web3. Custom games have their own local leaderboards, invite codes, and graphics for social sharing.

DAILY CHALLENGE: A daily curated game where everyone sees the same 5 pieces of art. Users compete for the daily leaderboard and consecutive games played streaks.

MULTIPLAYER: Two players each see the same piece of art. A 10 second countdown begins for the second player when the first user submits their answer. Points are compared each round and the winning player is crowned at the end of the game.

BUY NOW LEADERBOARD: An additional leaderboard could be created for art purchased through ArtGuessr with the top collectors, top artists, and even cumulative art sold across the entire ArtGuessr app.
